These books should be required reading for construction organizers. Take a look at this list and see if you own these titles. If not, I urge you to consider adding them to your own labor library.

A very readable book that covers everything you need to know about community based organizing. Saul Alinsky gets it right. Management knows this; so they’re reading it too.

Organize or Die; Business, Marketing and Communications Strategies for Labor Leaders, Agents and Organizers by Mark Breslin

This is a great book on the subject of marketing and how to frame your message for top-down organizing. I’ve tried Mark’s recommendations and they work! They’ll work for you too!

Great Labor Quotations; Sourcebook and Reader by Peter Bollen
You’re going to need some inspiration from time to time. This book delivers! Peter Bollen has put together a fine collection of quotes from Labor’s greatest leaders. You will not be dissapointed.

Organizing To Win; New Research on Union Strategies by Kate Bronfenbrenner
This book is required reading for anyone interested in union organizing. You may have already read it if you’ve taken a course on the subject. If not; pick up a copy today!
